Where We Plant Trees
We plant one tree for every item we sell. We've identified four areas that can desperately benefit from more trees. This includes the Amazon Rainforest, the Pacific Northwest, Appalachia, and areas devastated by forest fires. When you purchase a Planet Legacy product, you get to choose which area you want your trees planted in. Learn more about each region below.
The Amazon Rainforest is the world's largest rainforest ecosystem. It is home to nearly 30% of the plant and animal species on our planet including animal species like the Amazon River Dolphin, Black Spider Monkey, Jaguar, and Macaw. The 1.9 billion acres of rainforest can hold more than 100 billion metric tons of carbon so the Amazon is critical in fighting climate change. Unfortunately, logging and forest fires have made the Amazon Rainforest a high risk zone for deforestation and degradation. Help us stabilize the climate and conserve the Amazon Rainforest habitat.
Did you know that planting trees along streams and rivers in the Pacific Northwest region restores habitat for the Endangered Southern Resident Orca? This endangered species resides in Pacific waters along Northern California up to British Columbia. The orca consume salmon for almost 80% of their diet, but salmon stocks are diminishing due to pollution and loss of habitat. Planting trees in this region helps both the Salmon and Orca population as well as the global climate. Watch this video to learn more:
The Appalachian region stretches across most of the eastern United States (from New York to Alabama) and is home to more than 150 tree species. It is one of America's most beautiful forest and mountain regions. Unfortunately, timber and mining operations have significantly degraded an estimated 83% of the habitat. Help us plant trees in Appalachia and return the region to its original beauty.
Forest fires can be devastating on the entire environment but reforestation can make a positive impact. We plant trees in a variety of North American locations that have been affected by forest fires. These locations will shift based on where forest fires occur and where trees are most needed (specifically areas that are dependent on reforestation efforts because of a lack of natural regeneration). Help us reforest areas that have been affected by forest fires.
